I WHISPER IN THE DARK

“WHISPER IN THE DARK” published October 2020 by Kind Over Matter

I whisper in the dark,

it always lights my way,

it clears my thoughts to show me

forever how to play

One might think, “it’s a miracle”,

another, “you’ve lost your mind”,

but I don’t care either way,

it’s really not theirs to say.

My experience takes me down a road,

one I’ve never seen before,

and if I thought familiar

the lighting reveals much more

It takes me to a school

that apparently can’t be seen,

it drops me off to remember

all that I hope to redeem.

There I am left to play

creating whatever I choose,

I live from a new perspective

that I know I can never lose.

It’s endless possibilities,

who could have ever known,

they didn’t tell us in high school

or even when we were grown.

Religion says it’s a secret,

mysteries we can’t understand,

maybe they can’t see its beginning

and one without an end.

Did they see the door swung open

available for all to go through?

I suspect they didn’t know

because they forgot to tell us in school

They consulted the details they memorized,

and spoke them perfectly from rote,

convinced us their brain had the answers

and didn’t give us a vote.

I tell you this is not magic

or a mystery we can’t understand

the door is always open

unlocked with the answers at hand.

Ever so gently all is revealed

without any pain or fear,

we forgot the door is wide open

with all the answers to hear
